Biography

Mark Shimada is currently involved with speaking, performing, training and consulting engagements that explore unexpected possibilities. He has training and leadership experience in Fortune 50, government, and non-profit sectors, supporting individuals and teams to envision and actualize compelling possibilities.

Mark wrote and performs a solo show "One Arrow, One Heart." Mark has had the good fortune to share this vulnerable and inspiring story to be an artist with the University of Northern Alabama, State of Washington employees, Seattle University masters graduate students, Asian American Journalist Anniversary Retreat participants at The Aspen Institute, Creativity and Leadership conference attendees at Denver, and even his VP and her leadership team, Boeing engineers, and Boeing's organizational development group.

During most of his career at Boeing, Mark contributed to the Boeing Leadership Center's esteemed rating among US corporate leadership universities, designing cutting-edge, award-winning, and authentic experiences for Managers. He recently lead the design and implementation of an innovative technology product for dynamic learning to support the next generation of leadership programs. In his current role at Boeing, Mark is a Strategy Advisor to various large training initiatives and programs.

He has presented at events ranging from the Academy of Management’s 2003 New Technologies Exposition, 2004 ArtSpace7 Digital Media Festival in Denver to Seattle's 2005 AIGA’s Experience Design Conference, Claremont College Leadership Forum, The Copenhagen Business School's Centre for Art and Leadership in 2006 and at various local and national Business and Training Events and Conferences.

Mark is also actualizing his own vision for a traveling conservatory where individuals are immersed to experience the value of applying artistic processes to real business and social issues. Launch cities include Seattle, Olympia, Denver, and Prague, Czech Republic.

His contributions among his peers and clients as an Artist, Speaker, Writer, Advisor, Coach, and Consultant comes from his hope to find creative practical action between what’s possible and what really matters.

Mark has a B.S. in Psychology and a M.S. in Instructional and Performance Technology.
