At the post-conference workshop part of the Seattle University OSR Conference, June 20 and June 21, Designing Life and Work in an Upended World, 16 participants in my Art of Illumination workshop created these two pieces of art. One uses latex paint and water-based pigment paints, the other is based on zen calligraphy. I am still wowed by what they were able to create together.
The art reflects an arts-based learning process based on collective virtuosity, the experience of wholeness, of feeling something magical as part of a synchronous rehearsal or performance like a symphony, choir, theater, or dance group. The workshop asks: What would happen if individuals' in organizations could have that experience of collective virtuosity? What would happen? How could it happen more in your organizational life? In even your personal life?
